New Film: Chatsworth The C.A.G.E.

Posted in video on March 24, 2009 by amandaegbe

The short 15minute documentary piece, was filmed in 2006, and 2008.  The film forms part of a project to document the regeneration of an area in Newham, London in the shadow of the planned London Olympics building programme.  The film centres on the opening and subsequent use of a Games Enclosure play space for young people on the Chatsworth estate.  The C.A.G.E represents those spaces that are developed as a way to offer an outlet for young people, but also represents a form of surveillance.  The film begins to document the constant struggle of local people to find a space for themselves, as well as an approach to visually presenting the urban environment.
